Welcome to the February edition of our best and favorite articles in AI that were published this month. We are a Paris-based company that does Agile data development. This month, we spotted among others, articles about AI that can diagnose breast cancer with higher accuracy than experts! Let's start, as usual, with the comic of the month: A recent evaluation of a AI system for breast cancer screening concludes that it is capable of surpassing human experts in breast cancer prediction. It is essential to identify breast cancer at earlier stages of the disease when treatment can be more successful.

In AI Dungeon 2, You Can Do Anything--Even Start A Rock Band Made Of Skeletons

Plenty of games offer players multiple solutions to problems. Stick to the beaten path or explore. A game that lets you do anything, though? That's harder to come by. Released yesterday, AI Dungeon 2 purports to be one such game, and for the most part, I've found it to be true.

AI Dungeon 2 is an Artificial Intelligence Driven, Text-Based Adventure Game, Here's How to Play – TechEBlog

#artificialintelligence

Developed by Nick Walton, AI Dungeon 2 is based on an open-source text-generating algorithm created by OpenAI. The AI was trained by feeding it choose-your-own-adventure stories from the Choose Your Story website. Think of AI Dungeon 2 as a Zork-inspired text adventure game (TAG), but rather than limiting players to only going in specific directions, it responds to pretty much anything the player types. AI Dungeon 2 is a first of its kind. Players start by choosing the type of adventure they want to play, with genres including: mystery, apocalyptic, zombies, and fantasy.

This AI text adventure game has pretty much infinite possibilities

What will video games be like when they can truly harness the power of AI? If the machine learning-powered text adventure AI Dungeon 2 is anything to go by, they'll be open-ended, ludicrously silly, and bags of fun to play. He's harnessed the power of a state-of-the-art, open-source text generation system built by OpenAI and fed it a bunch of texts in the style of Choose Your Own Adventure books. The result is a text adventure where, to modify a cliché, the only limit is the AI's imagination. You can play AI Dungeon 2 for yourself here.

This weird roleplaying AI makes a great dungeon master

When AI development firm OpenAI released its GPT-2 algorithm, it warned that the tech was capable of flooding the internet with fake news and propaganda. What it didn't predict, however, is that the algorithm can also make a pretty effective dungeon master. AI Dungeon 2 (playable here) uses the full-sized GPT-2 algorithm to bring players through a text adventure-style game that it writes in real-time based on the player's prompts and commands. The game isn't perfect -- in my playing, it for some reason decided to name every single character "Dan" -- but it's fascinating all the same to let a powerful AI system take the wheel and steer the game's journey. AI Dungeon 2 is a far cry from the first version of the game, which creator and Northwestern University grad student Nathan Whitmore built around a substantially weaker version of GPT-2.

You can do nearly anything you want in this incredible AI-powered game

Yes, you read that right. Where all games are limited by what developers program, this game uses OpenAI to create infinitely generated worlds that are only limited by your imagination. If that sounds lofty, well, give it a try. I promise that you'll be amused. AI Dungeon 2 gives you a few different settings and roles that you can adopt, but from there, it pretty much lets you run wild.

AI Dungeon 2 is Here with Its Infinitely Generated World for Gamers to Explore

#artificialintelligence

Imagine a game where your world infinitely creates itself, you can keep exploring tirelessly, and continuously experience new content and adventures. Welcome to AI Dungeon 2, developed by Nick Walton who creates AI-generated adventures. The icing on the cake, the game also enables players to select any action they desire, without being constricted to what the developers created. This is a one-of-a-kind AI-generated text adventure that took Walton "hundreds of hours" to complete. AI Dungeon 2 is done!
